Big long time Western fan here. So needless to say, not very overwhelmed by this new addition. Feel like meddlesome middle of the road execs/focus groups got in the way of this one and bullied Fuqua into a remake that wandered in no man's land.
It's not Silverado fun, not Wild Bunch drama, not Leone tension -- but throws in attempts at all of those, I suppose as an homage but feels more derivative (been there done that) than a respectful wink/nod.
(sigh) Hopefully not a final nail in the genre's coffin.
