Review of The Magnificent Seven (2016) by Roger W — 01 Jul 2017

Though this film isn't going to be as well remembered or as much of a classic as the 1960 film or Seven Samurai which both are based on I really quite enjoyed it. Yes it isn't all that original, doesn't do all that much new with the Western genre and it is predictable but it's so nice to see a Western film with plenty of action that isn't having to bring in aliens, needless comedy or any other gimmick to shake up the Western genre.

The cast is excellent, it looks gorgeous, the score is brilliant, the action is truly epic and expertly crafted and while the plot and script are just about serviceable and not all that adventurous I wasn't bored by either.
