Review of The Magnificent Butcher (1979) by Willi W — 23 Feb 2013
Fantastic early work from the now omnipresent Yuen Woo-ping and legend Sammo Hung. When describing Hong Kong action films, Jackie Chan ranked the significant elements of a movie in descending order as "stunt, (then) action, comedy, script.
." and finally ".. quality". If that's the standard this movie should be held up to, it's damn near perfect. For my money? I enjoyed every minute. The imaginative and frequently hilarious choreography make this would be forgettable martial flick a pretty memorable experience.
