Review of The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) by James K — 01 Nov 2007
I always think of this film when I've watched something overlong, because it manages to get so much into its 88mins - the history of a family, alongside the birth of the motor car in the US. Moving, amusing, and impressive filmmaking, but would have been good to have seen Welles original cut, rather than this studio cut version.
