Review of The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) by Andrew U — 18 Jun 2008
Often placed along side Citizen Kane as Welles' best work. However, in the studio-butchered state of the film, I don't believe this film is up to par with Welles' two masterworks - Kane and Touch of Evil.
The lighting is remarkable and the ending credits were outstanding, but this is not the wildly innovative work that's seen in Kane and Touch of Evil.
