Insomnia and guilt combined has powerful psychotic effects. Christian Bale turned in a masterful performance only he could for this role. He played a man with a conscience plagued with the guilt of his crime.
Tortured for a sleepless year of delusions and surreal characters, he finally found sleep again after he turned himself in to the police. First role where Christian starved himself for the emaciated role.
