A captivating performance by Bale. His real-life transformation into a gangly, paper-thin human being in order to accurately portray his role of a severely depressed insomniac deserves the utmost respect anyone watching this film; that being said, the film's plot does not provide the right platform to catapult Bale's performance into the list of cinematic all-time greats.
