The Machinist is a brilliant psychological thriller with a great plot twist. The story is intriguing, suspenseful and pays attention to detail. There are many hints in this movie which foreshadow to the plot twist and I loved that. You probably won't notice them until they finally reveal the twist. Also they added references and deeper meaning to this story (e.g. the fishing/fish references, the meaning of left/unlucky). Another thing I liked about this film is the fact that it makes you think and doesn't serve everything neatly for you on a plate.

I was impressed to read that Christian Bale lost around 63 pounds just for this role. That really shows his dedication to this movie and it also gives his character, Trevor Reznik, the perfect look of a very disturbed mind. His performance was simply excellent.

I loved how the movie has this dark and sinister look and fits the main character perfectly. The score was splendid, because it draws you into the movie's sphere.

I could go on and on about The Machinist, but I will leave it here.
