Review of The Machinist (2004) by Blair K — 10 Jan 2013
A disturbing, mind twisting thriller in the foot steps of Fight Club, but the real star here is Bale's commitment to the character role both emotionally and even more so, physically. Bale has become one of the best and most committed method actors of our time.
I forget that I'm watching him onscreen. To me, that's the true sign of a great actor. I don't believe there's another actor out there who's been able to change so physically from one movie to the next as much as Bale has.
Worth watching just for Bale's performance alone.
