Review of The Machinist (2004) by Francisco P — 24 Nov 2013
The fact that Christian Bale ate a can of tuna and an apple in order to get the physique for this movie shows commitment, something other actors don't have. Trevor Reznik (Christian Bale) is factory operator who has not slept in a year and after meeting someone he starts doubting his own sanity. Brad Anderson makes fantastic psychological thriller with an unusual plot and a fantastic performance from Bale. The acting is great from everyone, the cinematography makes the movie look dark, contributing to the tone set at the begging. The soundtrack is good and so are the effects overall; there is one CGI scene that is extremely notable but it lasts about 3 seconds so it is not a major problem. I really liked "The Machinist", it had a fantastic performance by Bale, a very good and intriguing story, I only wish it was longer but I really liked it.
5/5.
