Review of The Lusty Men (1952) by Allan C — 21 Dec 2011
Fine modern day western about rodeo riders. It's more about their relationships and inner demons than about riding horses and bulls, which is what you'd expect from a film by Nicolas Ray. In a lot of ways, the film reminded me of Douglas Sirk's "The Tarnished Angels".
The one fault of the film is the happy ending, which felt tacked on and insincere. This film also once again reaffirms for me that Robert Mitchum is one of the coolest actors of all time.
