Review of The Lunchbox (2013) by Sandeep N — 29 Sep 2013
'The Lunchbox' signals the slow but sure maturation of Indian cinema that was suggested by the excellent 'Ship of Theseus' earlier this year. This is a very real story that pulses with the melancholy heartbeat of loneliness.
That is the essence of this film - it is a gentle and loving ode to the lonely. Directed very well by Ritesh Batra and with wonderfully endearing performances from Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, this is a movie that brims with hopefulness.
