Review of The Lunchbox (2013) by Amit M — 30 Aug 2014
One of my favorite films of the year. Contrary to my expectations of a light, predictable film told through an exchange of notes between two strangers, I found THE LUNCHBOX to be a powerful and layered introspection on the impact our relationships have on our own lives.
The writing is exceptional, and the three leads essay their roles with nuanced performances. One scene stands out: as she listens to her mother talk about the change in her relationship with her ailing husband, Ila's facial expressions alone speak volumes about her realizations and decisions about her own marriage.
