Review of The Lucky One (2012) by Kenneth B — 05 Mar 2014
This is hardly a subtle film nor does it spend too much time developing any real character depth. Zac Efron's post-war trauma is summed up by two rather pithy scenes, Born on the Forth of July this isn't.
It does it the right notes within the context of the romantic drama though and it plays to Efron's strengths. He proved last year in The Paperboy that he has dramatic clout, which makes it slightly frustrating that this film is so lights.
Taken with a pinch of salt The Lucky One can be enjoyed for what it is.
