This movie was not what I expected. It is a hauntingly beautiful and captivating movie that once again showcases just how incredible a storyteller and director that is Peter Jackson (even more excited now for The Hobbit).
The visuals in this movie are stunning and are a beautiful representation of the in between of the afterlife. There's also some exceptional performances by Mark Wahlberg (who is usually hit or miss with me), the oh so beautiful Rachel Weisz-Burtanog, the creepy Stanley Tucci and Saoirse Ronan (who will always be that little bitch to me in Atonement! haha).
Yes, the tone shifts back and forth but I don't think it was too jarring of an experience. I thought Peter Jackson balanced it very well. I HIGHLY recommend it!
