Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Tracie T — 18 Feb 2012
Peter Jackson tries his best to create a gripping, domestic drama but ends up overcompensating with too many distracting psychedelic visual effects (that represent the main character's purgatory). The film ultimately feels disjointed and boring at times, with a few moments of tension and comedy.
Mark Wahlberg was seriously miscast whilst Tucci's performance was nuanced enough, but nothing too extraordinary.
