Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Stephen H — 21 Mar 2012
When Young Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) is murdered by her menacing and twisted neighbor George Harvey (Stanley Tucci) he buries the body and keeps a low profile while the police look for evidence just a few houses down.
This is a brilliant work of art that shows the untold story of Susie Salmon from the afterlife in a poetic fashion with it's stunning imagery. This film takes you through a mix of emotions through Susie's family who tries to deal with the grief of their missing daughter and sister.
And through Susie herself as she tries to make sense of what has happened and where she is, catching glimpses of the life that carries on without her she laments all the things she'll never be able to do.
This film is not for everyone with it's flamboyant imagery and poetic style of plot, but if you enjoyed The Fountain then you'd like this one. Never the less it is a great movie, highly recommend checking it out.
