Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Jackie M — 20 Oct 2012
I had put off seeing this movie for the simple fact that I loved the novel and just couldn't see how they would translate it to film. I didn't want my memories of this book that touched my life deeply at a time I needed the emotional release to be sullied by a poorly made movie. as many here have pointed out the book and movie aren't really comparable. so much of the book is lost in the movie and for me that is a good thing. the performances are excellent. mark wahlberg and stanley tucci are especially remarkable. the cinematography, especially in the after death scenes are excellent.
Most enjoyable.
