Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Amanda W — 05 May 2014
Yes, there was room for improvement in the story telling, and the resolution with the antagonist was far from satisfactory - but I can't pretend this film wasn't utterly haunting, and in no small part due to Saoirse Ronan's incredible performance.
She just has this je ne sais quoi, and she just gives the film an intensity that really works. And Stanley Tucci is a chameleon like always, making your skin crawl as the unsettling and loathsome murderer.
