I'm kinda surprised how much I disliked this. Jackson plays the plot like a genre movie, with all the attendant clichés, but it's quite clearly not, so he ends up not only with stupid, annoying characters doing stupid, annoying things, but also no plot payoffs, no tension, and no sense of purpose.
It listlessly transitions from slow-motion portent to slow-motion sentimentality, and then kind of ends with a shrug like it forgot what it was talking about.
