Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Domenik D — 13 Dec 2014
I was genuinely hoping for a fantastic film after reading the brilliant novel that left me speechless with its insight into loss and how it effects individuals. But the film glosses over this, opting instead for dazzling imagery, which it admittedly has in abundance.
This unfortunately does not make up for how this film should have resounded with affecting moments that instead hit with a dull . I blame a good portion of this on not keeping Ryan Gosling attached, but I suppose it could have also been Peter Jackson just wanting to get back to Middle Earth.
