Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Octavia J — 23 Aug 2016
I haven't read the book, which I imagine is far better. But the movie was all over the place. It started off really good, but once the murder happens, it just dissolves in to messiness. I was especially frustrated by the huge revelation about the identity of the killer.
Once the other sister has the evidence, there was no real pay off. Creepy killer neighbor is able to escape after summoning super human strength necessary to move one EXTREMLY heavy piece of critical evidence (as if the evidence found by the sister is not damning enough).
He escapes and is then meets the most absurd fate I have ever seen in my life. I can't imagine things played out like this in the book. I love the premise and may still read the novel to get a sense of what this story was supposed to be.
