This darkest of dark-comedies, The Love One is strange, bizarre and very funny. Director Tony Richardson was a man on the cutting edge here and the film is perfectly cast. Rod Steiger steals the movie as Mr Joyboy, but then the entire cast does the same with their scenes as well.
