Review of The Love Witch (2016) by Edixon T — 25 Jun 2017
Was excited for this film in the beginning, it starts off like a really good B-movie, I was particulary charmed with the lead actress and what seemed to be a revival of cassandra peterson´s Elvira. But the movie takes a wrong turn and turns into a weird feminist/patriarchy manifesto that is hard to tell whether is taking itself seriously or just horsing around.
When I reached the film third quarter I was incredibly bored and just couldn't watch it no longer. What a huge disappointment. The acting didnt help either, I know you shouldn't weight the acting on a intentional B-movie like this, but damn, sometimes it was just unbearable, the lead actress can pull off a good sexy witch, I give her that much.
Even though it was a refreshing look on a witch themed love story, much love was put on the herbal spellcraft stuff, but the execution and the script was horrible.
