Review of The Love Witch (2016) by Elmo H — 13 Mar 2017
Not so much a pastiche but more a carbon copy of 60's cinema and thereby hangs its' problem. 60's cinema was often clunky and over saturated as is The Love Witch which, by recreating the genre so slavishly, inherits the same problems.
That having been said Samantha Robinson produces a wonderfully deadpan performance as the aforementioned witch and there are enough quirks and cinematic paradiddles to keep the thing bubbling along quite happily until the final credits.
