Review of The Love Witch (2016) by Lew W — 10 Oct 2017
It was visually wonderful, but I was very thrown by the fact that it was set in present day and not the 60s. It seemed like they only did that because they didn't have the budget to edit out the modern cars in the outdoor scenes.
It felt wrong. There were some good elements regardless, such as the subtle questioning of the path the main character is following (supposed empowerment of women through satanic witchery led by creepy old men), and the plot would have been fine if not for the jarring anachronism.
Why was this woman surrounded by people and places that looked like the 60s except for the cars? Can't let it go, sorry Love Witch!
