Review of The Love Guru (2008) by Paul C — 08 Feb 2010
I will admit I did laugh at a couple parts, but that did not save this movie at all. The cast was there, but not that good. You might as well call this movie a bad foreign version of Austin Powers. Mike Myers was just not himself and I found myself not laughing at him at all.
The rest of the cast was ok, but shouldn't of been in the movie. Jessica Alba seemed to just be in the movie to make a few bucks. Justin Timberlake even said in the outtakes, "why am I here".
He said it as a joke, but was it really? Ben Kingsley is a great actor. He was funny in this film, but it did not fit him. The story line was something found in the trash and the humor was really bad slapstick.
Slapstick only works if it is done right. This was not. Mike Myers really lost the funny in her personality in this film. I am not sure if he can redeem himself now.
