Review of The Love Bug (1968) by Tony B — 26 Dec 2007
It's not quite my favourite (Monte Carlo gets my vote) but the first is still the best Herbie film. It's got a cracking plot, Dean Jones & Buddy Hackett are a top double act, David Tomlinson is as superb as always as the villain - it just works.
Gags are funny, it even gets you sad at one point. Then there's the racing - top stuff. Who can forget the climax with two Herbie halves? One of Disney's best family films - this as a kid, and adult, cemented my love for that little bug.
Excellent family film.
