Review of The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) by Daniel C — 27 Oct 2012
Ian Malcolm and a research team head to Isla Sorna, aka Jurassic Park Site B to monitor the dinosaurs roaming and flourishing there. However, Injen has other ideas and send their own team to disrupt the happenings there for their own gains.
Once we get to the island, this movie is more of the same from the first film without the same wow factor. We get to see some new dinosaurs but ultimately, people are picked off one by one by the different species as the movie progresses and it's all a bit familiar.
The characters (or maybe it's the acting) don't hold up as well, neither does the musical score which does its job of being different enough from the first but doesn't rouse any feeling either. There are still some decent edge-of-your-seat moments however and some of the character deaths at the hands of the dinosaurs are a little darker - the star dinosaurs remain to be the T-Rex and Velociraptors.
The final scenes in San Diego are a bit like Jurassic Park meets Godzilla but do serve to wrap up the movie appropriately for one of the film's more foolish characters.
