Review of The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) by Mattias K — 22 Sep 2012
Very disappointing, even by the standards of a sequel, Although it improved upon computer animation it did not by any means improve or add something to the original. Although it does incorporate a lot of interesting new ideas, as letting a dinosaur lose in a city or poachers that hunt dinosaurs it does not use these elements to progress the story of the firs movie.
The Ian Malcolm character has transformed from the neurotic intellectual in the first to something of an action hero in the second which is done in a very implausible way. The film echoes "Jurassic Park" but loses a lot by changing the only main character it has from the previous film to something that he clearly is not and on top of that adding sub par and uninteresting side characters and antagonists.
One of Spielberg's weaker films.
