Review of The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) by Luke N — 23 Aug 2013
Almost everything that made the first movie transcendent of its downfalls is unfortunately absent in this second, efficiently delivered, but unambitious outing. If you want great CGI effects, you'll get them.
If you want scary, man-eating dinosaurs, with plenty of blood and screaming victims, you'll get them. But if you want the Spielbergian charm and childlike exhilaration of the first film, prepare to be disappointed.
What you get instead, is a perfectly competent, yet noticeably effortless money-grabber, which just feels more like a darker, more cynical rerun of the original classic.
