Review of The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) by Sally T — 02 Jun 2015
After reviewing the first Jurassic park movie I decided to review Jurassic park 2, though this sequel is not part of the Jurassic world story line I thought i'd check on this. I have nothing against sequel to let you know, but the point of a sequel is to move the story along this on the other hand not only prevents story development but goes backwards on the first.
the story unlike the other is a classic monster b movie style where people are trapped on an island filled and must escaped (never knew Steven would try to make lost with dinosaurs). the difference is its more of that cliched nature is good and man is bad kind of story where, the cousin of john hammond wants make a Jurassic park in america and like any other environmental awareness movie evil man tries to capture the dinosaurs for their greedy needs "yeah that movie." though to be fair it does bring in t-rex to attack the city that was fun.
next the characters again b - movie style to fullest. all pretty much cliched characters that are kind of idiots and horrible heroes where they try and save from the evil Dino hunters and yet keep getting themselves in trouble which allows the Dino hunter's to save them and they end up getting killed. only thing I did like was when they let out the dinosaurs out of their cages that was funny.
but the point is its going back on what the original was about both the story and character wise. the point of the original was dream meets reality, though nature is thrown into it but remember nature is a strong part of reality, nature is life and, cause of this dreams and reality don't always mix well. john hammonds dream was to open a park where people can enjoy these animals just as he did, but dinosaurs are animals and can think and kill so they're just as savage as we are, so no bad guy required.
Though this not the worst sequel of all time because there some moments I did like, but its still a bad sequel because it goes against of what made the original a highly revered classic family movie. its not an environmental aware film were we are the bad guys and nature is Jesus its a sci fi/fantasy story about life and dreams. that's why I personally declare the first as the best family flick not only because I love dinosaurs, but it shows not only the consequences of dreams but also how powerful they can making them unbreakable allowing them to control life to their will in return makes life more terrifying especially when its a nature.
