Review of The Lost World (1925) by Jorge D — 06 Sep 2008
"Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Stupendous Story of Adventure and Romance"... nice subtitle, uh?!
Excellent Arthur Conan Doyle story where amazing music compensates the silent dialogs (but the silent style is very charming here anyway).
The opening with Franz Schubert's Symphony No.8 (Unfinished) sets the mood for the film. Also the Schubert Piano Trios help making it a wonderful experience.
(I could not recognize the other compositions - some help here? :-).
Excellent special effects for that time period together with eccentric scientists, dinosaurs in the Tower Bridge (London), adventure, touching music, and some ethically challenging situations.
A real classic. If you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting?
Still here? Go!
