Review of The Lost Weekend (1945) by Matthew H — 25 Jun 2007
It was pertinent and shocking in is time. Now it is outdated, one-dimensional, and features a whiny Ray Millard. Director Billy Wilder ("Double Indemnity", "Some Like It Hot", "Sunset Blvd.
") was a genius, and there are still moments that hold up, but this is one Best Picture winner that has lost its strength in its old age (like the equally great Elia Kazan's "Gentleman's Agreement").
