Review of The Lost Weekend (1945) by Jakki J — 21 Mar 2009
This is a Billy Wilder classic, so naturally I wanted to see it. Unfortunately, I found it to be a bit disappointing and dated. Don't get me wrong, the acting was great, but in this day and age we are not unaware of the consequences of drinking.
Perhaps in its time it was shocking and effective, but today it seems more in line with a Lifetime original movie or similar. I also felt the ending wrapped up too neatly, too quickly. The moral is good, but it's been done better.
