Review of The Lost City of Z (2017) by Elisa K — 03 May 2017
This movie is a perfect example of why rating systems don't work for the general public. The "tomatometer" is at 88% right now. I took two pre-teen boys who consider themselves explorers to this show and couldn't keep them awake.
If this were a documentary that lasted 15 minutes, I would have thought it was mildly interesting. It would be good to take the amazing talent in the film and the money spent to produce it and put it towards so many other epic adventures that ended in success.
It's hard enough to keep people engaged in historical stories that take place over a long period of time. There needs to be a pay off, a "win" in the end that justifies the effort. This wasn't the story.
