Review of The Lost City of Z (2017) by Ken T — 24 May 2017
An incredible true story that is translated just OK on the big screen. The true story of an explorer searching for an unknown civilization builds slowly. The best parts of the movie are showing the exploration and hazards in the Amazon.
Charlie Hunnam does a good turn as Percy Fawcett, a stark contrast to his King Arthur character. While the movie was a bit long, I still would have liked to see more family dynamic particularly between Percy and his son.
The climatic ending came too quickly and would have been interesting to see it build more. The facts leading up to the ending seemed overly dramatic but creative license of the ending was well done.
