Review of The Lost City (2022) by Jluis_001 — 28 Mar 2022
I must admit that The Lost City may be many things, but one of them is not being fake. What it offers is what it is: simple, straightforward and uncomplicated.
Fast food movie with no nutritional benefit, but will give you enough calories to pass the time. Not the best of analogies, but it's basically the crudest and simplest way to explain it.
Neither Sandra Bullock, nor Channing Tatum work with anything that really gets them to do something genuinely funny, so they resort to the best they can to move the thing along, while Daniel Radcliffe is basically a 2.0 version of what he did in Now You See Me 2.
The funniest character was Brad Pitt and he's only there for a little while, so there's not much to say about that.
It won't revive the genre it's trying to emulate, but as I said, its ambitions are so basic that what it delivers is enough to satisfy anyone looking for quick, uncomplicated entertainment.
