Review of The Lost Boys (1987) by Luke S — 08 Dec 2010

This story revolves around two brothers, Michael and Sam, who against their will are being moved from Phoenix to the small California town of Santa Carla. Their mom has just gone through a messy divorce and they are looking for a fresh start, moving in to a rural farm house with their grandfather.

As the boys explore their new surroundings Michael goes girl chasing and ends up falling in with an interesting crowd. The crowd in question is interesting because in fact they are, well . . . vampires! Michael ends up becoming one of them himself and to save him and the girl he's lusting after, his brother Sam along with his new friends must make a final stand against this terrible, undead threat.

This movie is fantastic for many reasons. First, the cast is awesome. The two Coreys, Jason Patric, the mom from Still Standing . . . and of course the dad from Gilmore Girls!! The soundtrack was very distinctive as well, but what I like most about this movie was the settings it took place in.

The farm house that a good chunk of this film took place in was so well imagined and just perfect for this movie it was incredible. This is one of the best vampire movies ever made!
