Review of The Lost Boys (1987) by Brandon W — 28 Feb 2016
Alright this one's another guilty horror pleasure of mine, Joel Schumaker brings us his take on Vampires in 80s Santa Monica. It's wrought with general 80s cheesiness and some would say does more damage to vampires or at least as much as Twilight which I say is bullshit it doesn't take itself seriously at all has fun and furthermore vampires were never that cool to begin with.
Jason Patric stars as a teenager who is forced to move to Santa Monica by his mother where they'll live with their grandfather and his younger brother played by young Corey Hain and oh...there are these two comic book geek Vampire Hunters who help fight the Vamps at the films bloody final battle called the Frog Brothers and one's played by Corey Feldman.
Heh This was the beginning of something. Yeah Nobody cares what the plot was the acting was barely passable but not awful except for the ever enthusiastic Feldman and the entity of badassery known as Kiefer Sutherland they're excellent.
The directing is shockingly competent from the bastard Joel Schumaker who will forever be on my shit list for Batman and Robin and the bloody ass action scenes while fewer and farther than you'd think are GLORIOUS.
Worth a rent or two if you see it on TV I'd recommend giving it a view it's pure fun.
