Review of The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond (2008) by Blessingmark97 B — 10 Oct 2010
I am exceedingly frustrated at the moment.
First of all this movie begins with almost 5 minutes of no dialoge and I got the feeling like I was coming in at the middle of the movie. Relationships are already established and all the characters seem to know certain things that are never fully explained to the audience.
I was bored through most of this movie and found myself saying (multiple times) that I didnt have any clue what was going on. I almost feel like this movie has no plot. It doesnt really have a beginning or an end.
I also feel like some things just went right over my head - which could have a good deal to do with the time era it's set it. There were also parts that for the life of me I have no idea what the purpose of them was - especially Ellen Burstyn's part (which for the record, she creeps me out).
The trailer had me believing that this was the story of, "a love that could not be but could not be denied". And I saw nothing of that. It was all very one-sided and I am left very disappointed.
The only good things are as follows. I liked the use of lighting at certain points - it gave it the feel of a stage play. I thought that both Bryce and Chris were wonderful in their acting - and both are gorgeous. Those points aside however, this was not something I will recommend to anyone.
What did this movie teach me? Ellen Burstyn plays the weirdest most random and freaky characters.
