I firmly believe zombie had no idea what he was doing here. There's not even gore which is something every zombie movie is good for until now. Instead he just makes it weird and I mean weird. This is no horror film.
More of a strange low budget cult film about satanists. Not as bad as house of 1000 corpses but pretty damn close.
