Review of The Lords of Salem (2013) by Michael W — 24 Apr 2013
I thought it was really good. The story takes a back seat to atmosphere and the "dream" sequences evoke the best of Ken Russell's imagery in films like Gothic, Altered States, and Lair of the White Worm.
Combine that with a steady pace similar to The Shining and you have a film with a classic throwback feel. The best way to describe the film is the slow burn of Ti West's recent efforts(to much better effect I may add) mixed with the psychedelia of Ken Russel's films.
Overall very enjoyable with a good bit of fan service and lots of SATAN!
