Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) by Andy G — 13 Nov 2014
Just... one of the best movies ever. Even better than I remember it being. I watched the Extended Edition, and weirdly enough, I only noticed one or two new scenes. I'm sure there was a lot more, as it's the longest extended edition, but I was just so into the story that it just didn't feel any different to me. It didn't even feel longer, even though it's an hour longer. I think it's just one of those movies where you just don't give a crap how long it is, because it's just so perfect in every way. On a technical level it improves significantly over the last two, and holds up to even today's visual effects work, whereas some of the earlier movies' effects do show their age. While there are still a couple movies I rank higher than this, it's still one of the best.
100%.
