Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) by Unclewillard — 14 Mar 2019
A well-deserved 10. I am always dubious of books translated to film, because I've been disappointed before. Too many times. These movies do the books justice, and it's the details along with the great story that hold it up.
Everything was done right from the casting (barring one example; Liv Tyler who I don not like in this) to the costumes, from the acting to even the CGI, which was seamlessly integrated into live action.
If I had to pick something, it would be minor; the end. The book ended on such a high note for me, but the movie, for obvious reasons I feel, had to edit that bit out. It's shame, because the book ending showed the reader how all the adventures of the hobbits panned out upon their return.
Much more satisfying than the movies.
