Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) by Dominic C — 22 Feb 2014

The Lord of the Rings is a perfect trilogy in many ways. The storyline is so complex you have to watch it more than once. However even by your first viewing you're going to love the characters and visual effects.

The Fellowship of the Ring is a great start to this trilogy. The characters are all wonderfully put together. Frodo is a good hero in the sense that he does take his responsibility if reluctantly and never gives up on his duty.

Sam is the most loyal best friend any hero could ask for, and Sam remains by his side throughout the series. Gandalf is wize and powerful and one of my personal favorite characters. The villains aren't fantastic for the most part, but that's because the real villain is the Ring.

That's how we see more of what Sauron's personality was. Saruman is another good villain and is the perfect example of a hero turned to the dark side perhaps even better an example than Darth Vader.

The effects in this movie are amazing, and the story is enough to keep you interested for the long running time. Like it or hate it, you'll most likely have to watch this one at least twice.
