Review of The Lord of the Rings (1978) by Jordan S — 11 Jun 2011
Though Peter Jackson's epic trilogy will probably remain the definitive film adaptation of Tolkien's opus, Ralph Bakshi's ambitious, if not completely successful, animated attempt is still worth a look.
It does a decent job of summarizing 'Fellowship of the Rings', but isn't as adept with 'Two Towers', when the plot gets incredibly muddled. But the rotoscoped animation is well-crafted, and the film retains a compelling atmosphere throughout.
