Review of The Lord of the Rings (1978) by Noah F — 27 Jul 2012
I was expecting a lot from this movie. I was disappointed. I do like the animation style, which makes the hobbits look like kids with hairy feet. But I don't like the rotoscoping techniques, which add live-action characters into the mix.
For me, it should either be live-action, or animated, not both. The action is unimpressive to say the least, and the story is quite fractured, and I'm certain some parts are missing. Worst of all is that it's based on one novel, and half of another.
Overall, it's quite average, and if you're looking for a Lord of the Rings movie, it would be a better idea to watch Peter Jackson's trilogy. Trust me, it's awesome.
