Review of The Lord of the Rings (1978) by Jess V — 16 Jan 2011
It has a more gruesomely artful centerpiece that brags along the way that never seems to really captivate, fully, the curious innocence in this film. Its very dark and it was a nightmare for me as a child.
Bakshi knows the story, but he doesn't draw it out clearly enough for his audience to be fully delved in the story as Peter Jackson was. Still, this was a bold move, and thats why my 3 star rating stands.
