Review of The Lookout (2007) by Joe M — 22 Dec 2008
This wasn't bad at all. It's a quiet little character piece about a man coping with the consequences of a traffic accident. It reminded me a lot of the Machinist in its spare, chilling examination of guilt. The action sequences were also good but I am not sure this is really an action movie. It's more of a drama with an action-packed ending.
It would have been better except some of the writing is pretty cheesy. I also thought that the German guy was really out of place, as if the director had an itch to use a shotgun wielding German, whether it fit in the movie or not.
